IEC and ETSI renew their cooperation agreement

 

On 27 April, at the IEC headquarters in Geneva, ETSI Director-General Jan Ellsberger and IEC Secretary-General & CEO Philippe Metzger have renewed a Cooperation Agreement to reinforce collaboration and coordination in the development of international and regional standards in the area of information and communication technologies.

It reflects the shared commitment of IEC and ETSI to support global interoperability, innovation, and market relevance more effectively through their work.

ETSI takes note of the European Commission’s proposal for a revised Cybersecurity Act (Regulation (EU) 2019/881), hereinafter referred to as the ‘Cybersecurity Act 2’ and/or ‘CSA2’, which forms part of broader range of measures aimed at modernising and simplifying the EU cybersecurity framework2. As a European Standards Organisation (ESO), ETSI is addressing specific elements of the legislative proposal that may affect the integrity of the European Standardisation System.
